Memory Care Redefined: The CarePartners Cottage Model
Specialized Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care in Washington and Arizona.
At CarePartners, we believe that for an older adult with memory loss, the physical environment is a vital part of the treatment. While many providers offer memory care in large, institutional settings, we have pioneered our small-scale cottage design. By design, we ensure an inviting place for the family to visit and where your loved one’s first move may be their only move—physically, financially, and emotionally.

Why the “Cottage” Design is Better for Memory Care
Research indicates large, loud, and crowded environments can trigger agitation and “sundowning” in those with dementia. We focus on person-centered care. Our industry-renowned cottage model solves this by trading institutional corridors for intimate, self-contained homes.
- Reduced Sensory Overstimulation
Traditional facilities often house 40 to 60 residents in a single wing. CarePartners cottages are limited to 10 to 20 residents. This smaller scale minimizes the “wall of noise” and visual chaos that leads to anxiety—creating a calm, predictable atmosphere where residents feel safe.
- Navigable, “No-Corridor” Design
Long hallways in large facilities cause “wayfinding” stress—the fear of being lost. Our cottages feature a circular, open-concept layout centered around a hearth and kitchen. This allows residents to navigate their home independently, boosting their confidence and reducing the risk of wandering.
- The Hearth of the Home: A Familiar Kitchen
In a CarePartners cottage, the inviting aroma of home-cooked meals is a daily reality, stimulating appetites and fond memories. Meals are provided from a central kitchen in the homey dining area where residents dine family-style. This sensory stimulation encourages appetite and social engagement—two of the first things lost in large, industrial-style dining halls.
Care & Financial Security: The CarePartners Difference
We offer more than just a beautiful environment; we provide a partnership that protects your family’s future.
Keeping Couples Together
Unlike other communities that separate spouses when care needs diverge, we offer options to keep couples together. Whether in a shared suite or neighboring cottages, we believe maintaining life’s most significant partnership is essential to wellness.
Financial Peace of Mind: Medicaid Spend-Down
One of the greatest fears in memory care is the need to move a resident due to financial changes. CarePartners offers a unique Medicaid Spend-Down Program. We allow residents to transition from private pay to state assistance without the trauma of leaving their home, their friends or their care team.
Specialized Care Across Washington & Arizona
Our “cottage” model is the benchmark for memory care in the West, combining the intimacy of an adult family home with the robust care resources of a professional management group.
